Reversing your assumptions
I love this one! If you have ever tried to thread a needle, the chances are that you have wetted the thread in the hope that this would make it easier to get it through the hole. It is a perfectly reasonable way to solve the problem, and - in my experience - works quite well. However, this article suggests that we have been doing it all wrong. We should be wetting the eye of the needle instead.
