Beautifully side stepping the problem

I am a sucker for a great headline, and Boing Boing has a wonderful one. The post is entitled Vaporrub solves meerkat gang war

Anyway, the reason I love this story is that is shows a great example of solving a problem through redefinition. In brief, meerkats don't take to new meerkats very kindly, they only like ones which smell the same. So, instead of trying to make the new ones smell like the old ones, the keepers made everyone smell of vaporrub - genius.

So, how might we apply this idea in our lives?
