Could we get people to enjoy what they hate?

Compensation is the HR term for paying people to come to work. It implies that work is unpleasant and that workers need redress for the suffering they experience. Sadly, for many people, this is a realistic appraisal. But what about the things we have to do for which we don't get paid. Is there any compensation for that?
