“It takes almost as much creativity to understand a good idea as to have it in the first place”, Alan KayFor those who don't know him, Alan Kay is generally regarded as one of the fathers of the personal computer. What I loved about this quote is the way it changes one's focus regarding creativity. What if, just for a while, we stopped trying to come up with new ideas and instead really concentrated on trying to understand the mad, bad, and dangerous ideas which other people are trying to communicate.

What a great perspective. this is a bottle neck that i have been concerned about for a while... trying to help "outsiders" understand the seemingly odd ideas and solutions that one might create. To help those outsiders explore thier own creativity through exploring ideas presented might just be the answer. Maybe we only need to teach people to explore new ideas, and this would be enough to help ideas blossom and bloom
