I have never been a fan of mind maps. For some reason I found the process somewhat constraining. Every so often I go back to using either a paper or computer based mind mapping tool, but it never seems to last very long.
Today, all that changed because I saw an example which just made immediate sense.
Wikimindmap is a visualisation tool which displays
Wikipedia entries as a mindmap. Now, I have to say that I love Wikipedia. I find it an invaluable tool both for specific topics and just for browsing - when I have a few moments free.
However, reading from a computer screen is never as quick or easy as reading from paper, so being able to maintain an overview of the content, and quickly navigate around the topic, made the whole experience much more enjoyable.
Try searching in both wikimindmap and wikipedia and see what your experience is like
