So what is the real problem here

I flew back from New York last night. The trip gave me an interesting opportunity to watch the way my fellow passengers dealt with the 'reclining seat' problem. A lady across the aisle got very cross, thumping the seat back and shouting, when the person in front of her reclined his seat shortly after take-off. I was then amused to see that the perpetrator got equally frustrated with the person in front of him, when they reclined their seat. Clearly, cause and effect weren't really related in this man's mind. However, the part which really intrigued me was that both people appeared to be upset about the way in which the reclined seats messed up their ability to watch the TV screens in the seat back. Typically, the airlines use LCD screens which have a poor viewing angle (they are cheaper that way). What neither person seemed to notice, at least to start with, was that the screen pivot to avoid this problem. All of which made me ponder, "what is the real problem here?". Is it a design issue, such that users don't realise that the screen tilt? Is it a social problem, people should ask before reclining their seat. Is it something to do with one problem causing another; before we had seat back TV, this problem might not have existed? These are just a few ways of thinking about a tiny little issue. Just imagine how many different perspectives exist in a big problem!
